Government is committed to fulfill the promises it had made to farmers in the election manifesto, Kamal Nath said on Thursday. The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh said that state government is committed to provide relief to the farmers as promised in Congress Poll Manifesto. In order to accomplish its promise, the MP government has made a provision of Rs 1600 crore under the Krishak Samridhi Yojana in the supplementary budget.

The Chief Minister during a debate in the state assembly said that “Our intentions and policies are very clear and pure. We have made a provision of Rs. 1600 crore in the budget for farm relief. There is a limit of budget and everybody cannot be satisfied within that limit. We expect good suggestions & not any criticism during deliberations”.

Kamal Nath mentioning about the bonus that would be given to the farmers of the state said that the Centre had fixed a quota of 75 lakh tons under the public distribution system (PDS). Since the previous government, i.e. BJP had announced incentives, the quota was reduced to 36 lakh tons. He added that during a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister, Ram Vilas Paswan in June 2019, I had urged to increase the quota.

The Chief Minister requested the opposition to discuss this issue for the protection of the interests of Madhya Pradesh. CM Kamal Nath alleged that the central government is not giving any support to the state government. The Chief Minister said that my government is committed to protect the interests of Madhya Pradesh along with the farmers.
