Govt. is Providing Subsidy For Hydroponics & Aeroponics Farming

Hydroponics is soil-less farming, in which plants are grown without soil and by supplying nutrients to water while their roots are submerged in water, allowing them to develop without conventional soil. It also entails the use of artificial techniques to assist and nutrient solutions to offer plants the nutrition they require.

NHB Provides Subsidy For Hydroponics & Aeroponics Farming In India

Under the initiative "Development of Commercial Horticulture through Production and Post-Harvest Management," the government gives financial assistance for hydroponic & aeroponic projects in the following ways:

Credit-linked back-ended subsidy of 20% of total project cost limited to Rs 25 lakh per project in general and Rs 30.00 lakh in NE Region, Hilly, and Scheduled regions. However, for capital intensive and high-value crops under protected cultivation and open-air cultivation of date palm, olive, and saffron, a subsidy of 25% of project cost with a ceiling of Rs.50 lakh (33 percent of project cost with a ceiling of Rs.60 lakh for scheduled and hilly areas) (National Horticulture Board, nhb.gov.in) will be provided.

General Conditions

1. The above support is available for projects spanning an area of more than four hectares (ten acres) in open cultivation and more than 1000 square meters in protected cultivation.

2. The credit component as a method of financing the project shall be a term loan from a banking or non-banking financial organization that is at least 15% higher than the admissible rate of subsidy.

3. Projects involving the establishment of new production units shall be evaluated to ensure and enable entrepreneurs to incorporate essential hi-tech components such as planting material, plantation, irrigation, fertigation, precision farming, on-farm PHM/ primary processing critical facilities, GAP, and so on; and to that extent, the project shall be integrated into nature.

4. The NHB shall prescribe the normative cost of various components.
