Haryana government in name of ground water conservation and to reduce rice cultivation is promoting maize crop on over lakhs acres with big financial incentives by providing free of cost MNC's hybrid seeds to the farmers and promises of purchase of its produces on MSP.

However, this maize cultivation remained more or less only on the government papers but rarely goes to the farmers fields because its 20  lakhs quintals expected maize produces never reached to Haryana APMC’S markets for purchases on MSP by the Govt which need CBI inquiry. Otherwise also, 2/3rd of Haryana topography and climate is not suitable for rainy season maize cultivation due to water logging conditions which maize crop can't tolerate as compared to the rice crop.

Therefore,  the government shouldn't waste public money on impractical agricultural scheme instead should promote eco-friendly DSR( Direct Seeded Rice) with finanicial incentives of Rs 7000 per acre which saved about 1/3rd ground water for irrigation. Even, without the Govt. Incentives,  last years (Year 2020) , DSR was cultivated on about 16 lakhs acres in Punjab and 5.5 lakhs acres in Haryana which proved the technical competancy of the DSR against the government promoted maize cultivation,  which proved as a impractical and scams schemes.

Moreover, the paddy cultivation is  farmers friendly economically and technically which also provides employment to millions rural youths , food security to the Nation and the exports of about Rs 60,000 annually.

Submitted for kind information and necessary action in the interests of the farmers and Agriculture of Haryana State.
