Haryana to Offer Rs. 1.20 Lakh per Acre for Dragon Fruit Cultivation

Good news for farmers involved in dragon fruit cultivation. The Haryana government will give farmers a subsidy of Rs. 120,000 per acre for the cultivation of this tropical fruit in order to encourage them to do so and make big profits.

According to Additional Chief Secretary (ACS-Agriculture) Sumita Misra, there is a provision under the special grant scheme for Rs. 120,000 grant per acre grant for dragon fruit orchards and a Rs. 50,000 grant for planting saplings to be given in three yearly installments of Rs. 30,000 in the first year and Rs. 10,000 each in the second and third year.

According to Misra, a farmer can get a grant of up to 10 acres under this scheme, but in order to do so, they must first register on the "Meri Fasal-Mera Byora’ website.

"The grant will be awarded based on a 'first come, first serve'," according to Misra.

Collaboration with Brazil for the development of animal breeds

According to JP Dalal, the minister for agriculture and farmer welfare, Haryana would collaborate with Brazil to construct a center of excellence for the development of animal breeds.

He said that the Haryana livestock development board has received an offer from the "Gir Association of Brazil" to import Murrah buffalo germplasm.

The modalities for establishing a center of excellence for Gir animals in Haryana were addressed on Wednesday by members of the Association of Brazilian Zebu Breeders (ABCZ) by a delegation headed by Dalal who is now visiting Brazil.
