‘Hastag#PinkBollworm’ Starts in Maharashtra to Fight against PBW Infestation

Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Dr. Anil Bonde has launched a mega campaign on hashtag#PinkBollworm , conducted by South Asia Biotechnology Centre and Agrovision Foundation, Nagpur on 3rd August 2019. The minister released PBW posters in Marathi language and flags off a float van campaign on pink bollworm from his village Amrawati, which comes under Vidharbha region on the occasion of his birthday.

Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Dr. Anil Bonde has launched a mega campaign on hashtag#PinkBollworm , conducted by South Asia Biotechnology Centre and  Agrovision Foundation, Nagpur on 3rd August 2019. The minister released PBW posters in Marathi language and flags off a float van campaign on pink bollworm from his village Amrawati, which comes under Vidharbha region on the occasion of his birthday.

The launch ceremony of “hashtag#PBWCampaign” was attended by many officials and professors of different university and institutions including Dr CD Mayee and Bhagirath Choudhary from South Asia Biotechnology Centre, Dr VM Bhale, Vice-Chancellor and officials of of Dr. PDKV, Sh Ravi Boratkar and Kamlesh Thalal of Agrovision Foundation, Nagpur and senior officials of Central Institute for Cotton Research and Department of Agriculture.

The extension officials of the campaign, progressive farmers and farmer’s representative from Shetkari Sanghatana and senior representatives of Rasi Seeds initiated the campaign in the response of recent reports of heavy PBW infestation in many fields and districts of Maharashtra.

As per reports, many early-planted irrigated cotton fields in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra is recorded with Pink Boll Warm (PBW) Infestation.  In response to the crisis, ‘hashtag#PBWCampaign’ has initiated in the state which is a joint venture of South Asia Biotechnology Centre and  Agrovision Foundation, Nagpur and supported by Rasi Seeds Pvt Ltd.
