Hydroponics: Skill Oriented Workshop Held in GDC Udhampur

GDC Udhampur Organized a hands on demonstration training on Modern Farming techniques.

The Department of Botany and Science Club of Government Degree College Udhampur organized a one-day skill-oriented workshop on Hydroponics, a method to offset the Issue of Receding Cultivable Land.

Prof. Subhash Chander Sharma, the College Principal, was the prominent guest at the event.

Dr. Gurdev Chand, Head of the Department of Physiology Division of Basic Sciences at SKUAST Jammu, participated as the resource person.

Prof. Seema Kotwal, Convener of the Science Club, gave the welcoming address and introduced the resource person to the attendees. She reflected on the significance of mastering Hydroponics technology.

Prof. Subhash Chander Sharma, the chief guest, congratulated the organizers and urged everyone present to learn and spread the method to other students and the general public.

Dr. Gurdev Chand, the resource person, presented an amazing and informative presentation on the many stages involved in Hydroponics and how it may change people's lives by providing nutritious food. He emphasized using innovative approaches, for which SKUAST Jammu is assisting all stakeholders.

The presentation was followed by a hands-on demonstration of the many procedures and techniques necessary for hydroponics. Participating students and faculty members Prof. Jawaid Sarver, Prof. Rosy Bamba, Prof. Sonia Raj, Dr. Bandana Mazal, and Dr. Swarn Singh sought explanations on their questions about the Hydroponics setup.

Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri, HOD Botany, offered the vote of gratitude.

Prof. Shivani Sharma hosted the event, which was attended by many NCC, NSS, and other students from the departments of Botany, Zoology, Sericulture, and Humanities.
