ICAR Signs Deal with NABARD for Transfer of Farm Technologies

Government's agriculture research body, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) on 13 December 2019 signed a deal with the National Board of Agriculture & Rural Development or NABARD for taking up site-specific transfer of farm technologies in India.

Government's agriculture research body, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) on 13 December 2019 signed a deal with the National Board of Agriculture & Rural Development or NABARD for taking up site-specific transfer of farm technologies in India.

According to a statement, the aim is to facilitate research & scale up different technologies as well as innovative farmer models developed by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by NABARD Chairman Harsh Kumar Bhanwala and ICAR Director General, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mohapatra stressed on providing financial aid to the young agri-entrepreneurs with the help of National Board of Agriculture & Rural Development.

On his turn, Bhanwala emphasized on the need of technological empowerment of women farmers in the country.

Under the memorandum of understanding, ICAR through its huge network will support the training as well as capacity building of channel partners & NABARD officers.

The plan will strengthen the competence of channel partners under the promotional & developmental programmes of NABARD technology transfer under the climate resilient agriculture, contingency & adaptation planning.

In addition, the ICAR will help in the impact evaluation of the NABARD assisted projects, detailed project reports (DPR) preparation for climate change, farm mechanization, agri-incubation Centres or farmer producers organizations (FPOs) & resource conservation, according to the statement.
