IIM Udaipur Announces Series of Start-up Scholarships for Climate Change-Related Projects

The grants are available to start-ups that are focused on a new technology or service with a high potential for commercial viability and climate impact.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Udaipur has announced a series of start-up scholarships for climate change-related projects. As per IIM Udaipur's press release, "the grant focuses on helping early-stage climate tech enterprises whose products or services are specifically focused on lowering GHG emissions or addressing the implications of global warming."

The start-up awards were announced in collaboration with Meity Startup Hub, Meity, the Government of India, and the business partner, Transworld Group. It stated that "participating entrepreneurs would have the opportunity to brainstorm and verify concepts with corporate partner Transworld Group." Interested start-ups have until February 10 to apply on the official website, iimuic.org.

The grants are available to start-ups that are focused on a new technology or service with a high potential for commercial viability and climate impact.

Eligibility to get Start-Up Innovation Grants:

  • A startup should have at least two members/people. Any of the problem statements for this Climate Change Innovation award can be addressed with your solution.

  • Digital and non-digital solutions can both be used to create a core value proposition.

  • Your solution is at one of the following stages: A roadmap was produced, as well as a proof of concept/prototype development/a tested prototype/MVP.

  • Once developed, your ultimate solution has the potential to be easily marketed and scaled.

  • Innovative ideas for which a patent has already been filed or can be submitted in the future would be accorded priority.

"We want to provide you and your startup with state-of-the-art mentoring and online training, as well as access to financial support and networking possibilities," stated Kannan Soundararajan, CEO, IIM Udaipur's Incubation Centre. The bottom line is a success, both for you and your startup, as well as for the environment through real-world climate solutions."

"We're seeking for folks who are enthusiastic about combating climate change." If you have a creative concept, now is the time to put it into action. This is the programme for you if you're an existing start-up in need of financial assistance and/or advice on how to build your business. Up to two Entrepreneurs-in-Residence will receive Rs 4 lakhs for prototype validation and development, and up to two businesses will receive INR 7 lakhs for product development and trial runs.”

The application process for the Start-ups would be evaluated from February 14 to 25, 2022. IIM Udaipur Incubation Centre will announce the selected start-up on March 7. The detail about the start-up innovation grant is available at the official website- https://iimuic.org/
