Kerala Plans to Form 100 FPOs to Make Process of Selling Agriculture Produce Efficient for Farmers &Traders
The state of Kerala has devised a new plan for the opening of 100 Farmer Producer Organisation(FPO) in the state. The aim of establishing the FPO is to make the whole process of selling agriculture produce efficient for both the farmers and traders and to help garner maximum revenue for the produce.

VS Sunil, State Agriculture Minister talked about the plan while speaking at the 3rd edition of CII Kerala Food Summits and Expo which would also eliminate the need of middlemen thus ensuring that the total revenue from the sales goes to the farmer.
Then move by the state is not a surprising one as after the Union Government passed two new ordinances that would ensure more freedom to the farmers in selling his crop outside of the APMC mandis and thus allows for the private sector to enter into the agriculture market.
The problems facing the Indian farmers have been the reluctance in adopting new technologies that make farming easier and more cost-effective. The NITI Aayog has argued that Diversification of crops and high yield crops are now a necessity for not only to double the farmers' income but also to put Agriculture on a more sustainable path.
The Union Government has alsoreleased the operational guidelines for the FPOs so that the states have no problems over the functioning of it.
The minister also said that the agriculture infrastructure is more than adept at reaching the target and with support of all the stakeholders the state will be a model for the other states on how to maximise revenue for their farmers
