Khet Talab Yojana: Get 50% Subsidy to Build Pond; Online Registration Starts
Khet Talab Yojana run by the Agriculture department of the state has started online registrations from May 18. Farmers can build ponds on their farms by taking the government subsidy of 50% of the total cost.
Khet Talab Yojana run by the Agriculture Department of Uttar Pradesh has started online registrations from May 18. Farmers can build ponds on their farms by taking the government subsidy of 50% of the total cost.
This scheme was first introduced in Bundelkhand.
Apart from this, UP government has launched Kisan Kalyan Mission for farmers’ betterment in Uttar Pradesh.
About the Khet Talab Yojana
Purpose

To motivate farmers for proper use and conservation of water

To store rainwater and use it for irrigation

Target and Scope of the scheme

First Phase- Construction of 2000 ponds in all blocks of Bundelkhand district at an expenditure of Rs. 12.20 crore
-
Second Phase- Construction of 3384 ponds at an expenditure of Rs. 27.88 crore in 167 overpowered and critical category blocks of 44 districts of the state including the Bundelkhand region.

Small Pond- (22m×20m×30m), cost/pond= Rs. 105000

Medium Pond- (35m×30m×3m), cost/pond= Rs. 228400
Grant

50% (payment of grant in three instalments by DBT)
Beneficiary Selection

Priority to SC/ST, Minority and Small/Marginal farmers (as per approved list from District Magistrate level)

A farmer is eligible for the benefit of only one pond
-
It is mandatory for farmers to have online registration and choice of farm pond.
To get loans at a lower interest rate and some other benefits, farmers can register for Kisan Credit Card Scheme.
Agriculture Deputy Director of Lucknow CP Srivastava informed that rainwater is collected in such pond made in the farm. In such pond, farmers can irrigate farms and can sow water chestnuts, and raise fish, and can also arrange drinking water for animals.
Under Pardarshi Kisan Seva Yojana, farmers can register for Khet Talab Yojana online on the website www.upagriculture.com.
As per the release issued by Agriculture Director, Dr. AP Srivastava, this time for the Kharif crops, Natural resource management strategies are adopted by using water harvesting techniques like bunding, leveling, farm pond, check dam, etc.
