KVKs are vital link between Research Institutes & Farmers: Dr Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, GADVASU

3rd Scientific Advisory Committee of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Booh, Tarn Taran, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor.  Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, Director, Extension Education, GADVASU co-chaired the session.

3rd Scientific Advisory Committee of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Booh, Tarn Taran, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor.  Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, Director, Extension Education, GADVASU co-chaired the session.

In this meeting 40 officials of GADVASU, PAU, ICAR institutes, line departments and progressive farmers participated. The Vice-Chancellor said that KVKs are an important link between research institutes and farmers as they help in transferring technologies from lab to field efficiently. He advised the KVK to expand its area of work in agriculture sector involving livestock, fisheries, apiary, integrated farming system (IFS) and value addition with focus for strengthening the small and marginal farmers of this border district. As livestock sector can lift farmers’ income substantially, he suggested the scientists to disseminate the successful technologies of the university and other institutes to the farmers in this critical scenario.

Dr Singh was delighted over the overwhelming response and satisfaction of the farming community with regards to activities and the strides made by KVK Tarn Taran. He appreciated associated farmers in achieving many national level awards in a short span of its functioning.

Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Associate Director of KVK presented the action taken report of the previous SAC meeting as well as progress report of the previous year and also discussed proposed action plan for the year 2021-22.

In this meeting Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana; Dr. Arvind Kumar, Principal Scientist from ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana, Chief Agriculture Officer, Deputy Directors from Department of Animal Husbandry, Punjab Dairy Development Board, Department of Horticulture, Project Directorate ATMA, DDM NABARD, Head Department of Agronomy, PAU, Incharge FASC Tarn Taran; CDPO, Patti, Bank official, Soil Conservation officer and progressive farmers gave valuable suggestions for framing in the future action plan of KVK.
