As per latest news reports, around one lakh farmers will get Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) in fifteen days. The government has started a special campaign to include all the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan) yojana beneficiaries under the KCC scheme.

Deputy Commissioner of Kangra district, Rakesh Prajapati while addressing a press conference yesterday said that 1 lakh farmers will be given Kisan Credit Cards within 15 days.

Prajapati said that the aim of this campaign is to incorporate all PM Kisan yojana beneficiaries under the Kisan Credit card scheme. To recall, under central government’s ambitious PM Kisan scheme, all the farmers get Rs 6,000 in three equal installments of Rs 2000 each in a year.

The DC further said that under the KCC scheme, farmers can avail a credit of rupees three lakh at concessional rates of 3% from the banks. For this, a one-page ‘Saral’ form had been introduced.

Prajapati said that farmers need to submit a copy of the land record in their name, proof of last crop sown along with the Saral form to banks. Moreover, all the banks had been asked to open a separate window for accepting these applications and also sanction the KCC limit to farmers within fourteen days of the submission of form, the Deputy Commissioner said.

He told that farmers, who are involved in poultry and fish farming, had also been included in the KCC scheme. Bank charges for Kisan Credit Card limits up to Rs 3 lakh has been waived by the government.

Prajapati said officials of agriculture, fisheries & animal husbandry departments have been asked to spread information and details regarding the drive to the farmers. Messages were also sent to farmers regarding the scheme via PM Kisan website.

Presently, 9, 30,000 farmers in Kangra district are availing the benefits of KCC scheme and soon more farmers will be able to avail it.
