14th International Crop Science Conference & Exhibition (ICSCE) is India's biggest and most exclusive event on Agri inputs. The conference is organized by the Pesticides Manufacturers and Formulators Association of India (PMFAI) and will continue till 15th November 2019. The exhibition hosted a collection of amazing array of new and latest sustainable plant protection products.

Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute presented their Liquid Seaweed Plant Biostimulant. The technology is a patented one and is also been bought by one of India’s leading Manufacture Group for Granulated Biostimulant and Plant growth Promoters, the Vikas Crop Care. Dr. Arup Ghosh and his fellow scientists have been credited for cutting edge sustainable technologies through interdisciplinary approaches involving agronomy, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, life cycle assessment in the areas of algae based crop biostimulants and organic farming.

His major works pertains developing seaweed biostimulants and optimizing agronomic practices using these biostimulants for enhancing productivity and quality of agricultural crops. Towards this he has coordinated a multi institutional ,multi crop project where in the sea weed sap were extensively tested in different agro ecological regions across 20 states in India in collaboration with 43 State Agricultural Institutes and ICAR institutes. The trial results from more than 400 sites were very encouraging as 13-36 % improvement in productivity was observed .

The sea weed biostimulant was also assessed for its effect on soil, physical, biochemical and biological properties and it was shown that the sea weed sap modulates soil microbes even under moisture stress condition.
