Lockdown 2.0: Government Disburses Crop Insurance Claims worth Rs 2,424 crore to Farmers under PMFBY
The Centre on Wednesday (15th April 2020) said that it has disbursed crop insurance claims worth Rs 2,424 crore to the farmers across twelve states during the nationwide lockdown.
The Centre on Wednesday (15th April 2020) said that it has disbursed crop insurance claims worth Rs 2,424 crore to the farmers across twelve states during the nationwide lockdown.
The Union Agriculture Ministry informed media that it has taken numerous other measures to facilitate farmers as well as farm activities at field level during this current lockdown period.
The ministry while highlighting these measures said that "Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana or PMFBY, insurance claims amounting to Rs 2,424 crore have been distributed to the beneficiary farmers in twelve states in the country."
In addition to this Kisan Credit Card or KCC saturation drive has been started by the agriculture ministry in association with the Department of Financial Services to cover all the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN).
An official statement said that "So far 83 lakh applications have been received, out of which 18.26 lakh applications have been sanctioned for the loan amount of Rs 17,800 crore".
It said the due date for conversion of agri-gold loan & other Agri accounts into Kisan Credit Card Account was 31st March but now it has been extended up to 31 May.
