About Swachhata Pakhwada:

  • Swachhata Pakhwada began in April 2016 with the goal of bringing a fortnight of intense focus on Swachhata issues and practices by involving GOI Ministries/Departments in their jurisdictions.

  • An annual calendar is pre-circulated among Ministries to assist them in planning Pakhwada activities.

  • The Ministries observing Swachhata Pakhwada are closely monitored using the Swachhata Samiksha online monitoring system, where action plans, images, and videos related to Swachhata activities are uploaded and shared.

  • Following Swachhata Pakhwada, Ministries/Departments publicize their accomplishments through press conferences and other communication tools.

Observing ministries are considered Swachhata Ministries for the Pakhwada fortnight and are expected to bring qualitative Swachhata improvements in their jurisdictions.
