'Mushrooms as Nutraceuticals'

The ICAR-Research Complex for North-Eastern Hills Region, Manipur Centre, Agri-Business Incubation Centre organized the “National Mushroom Day - 2019” and “State Level Mushroom Exhibition”. The events were organized in collaboration with the Mission on Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur.

The ICAR-Research Complex for North-Eastern Hills Region, Manipur Centre, Agri-Business Incubation Centre organized the “National Mushroom Day - 2019” and “State Level Mushroom Exhibition”. The events were organized in collaboration with the Mission on Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur.  

Dr. A.K. Tripathi, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone-VI, Guwahati, Assam marked his presence as the Chief Guest along with Dr. R.K. Saha, Director, Directorate of Extension, Central Agricultural University, Imphal and Smt. Kh. Sayakiran Devi, Director (Horticulture), Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur as the Guests of Honor.

Sri K. Kipgen, Former Director, Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation and Shri N. Premananda Singh, Mission Director (MIDH) were also present as the Special Guests during the occasion.

The Institute celebrated the National Mushroom Day - 2019 on the theme “Mushrooms as Nutraceuticals”.

The dignitaries emphasized on the Mushroom cultivation’s importance in the North-Eastern Region with special reference to the Manipur State.

Mushrooms species like Oyster (Pleurotus spp), Elm (Hypsizygus ulmarius), Shiitake (Lentinula edodes), Cordyceps (Cordyceps militaris) and King Oyster (Pleurotus eryngii) were exhibited by the growers during the exhibition.

Around 20 entrepreneurs from valley and hill Districts of Manipur, the beneficiaries of ICAR Manipur Centre exhibited their products, technologies and innovation during the exhibition.

A total of 275 farmers, entrepreneurs and Mushroom growers from all over the state participated in the event.
