National Health Authority (NHA) has started a 3-day orientation workshop for Joint Directors/Directors from across the country. From today until June 10, 2022, the workshop is being held in collaboration with the Koita Centre for Digital Health (KCDH), IIT Bombay. The NHA team will provide comprehensive training on the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) scheme, its core components, and the next steps.

Around 50 officials from various states, including Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Union Territories of Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and Daman & Diu, as well as teams from NHA and KCDH, are participating in the ongoing workshop.

Dr. R. S. Sharma, CEO of the National Health Authority, opened the workshop with a welcome address. Dr. Praveen Gedam, Additional CEO and Mission Director – ABDM, then provided context. Over the course of three days, division heads and subject matter experts (SMEs) from the ABDM team have planned detailed sessions on the various building blocks of ABDM, including the ABHA number (Health ID), ABHA app (Personal Health Records app), Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR), Health Facility Registry (HFR), ABDM Sandbox, and Unified Health Interface (UHI).

There would also be sessions on ABDM policy, legal considerations, the standards landscape, the ABDM action plan for state implementation, and the grievance redressal mechanism.

In addition to the NHA team, various health industry experts and academicians will share their knowledge on IT project management, design thinking for ABDM, Health Management Information systems, data privacy, and healthcare systems engineering and thinking.

State representatives would also share their experiences and learnings from the project's pilot phase, dubbed the National Digital Health Mission (NDHM).

The sessions will be followed by an open house to solicit feedback from the audience. Visits to ABDM integrated health facilities will conclude the workshop. In turn, the workshop will help bring the benefits of the digital health ecosystem to the country's most remote areas, making quality healthcare accessible to all.
