PM Fasal Bima Yojana: Hurry Up! Apply for Crop Insurance By December 31

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana: Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana basically aims at supporting sustainable production in farm sector by; providing financial support to cultivators facing crop loss/damage due to unforeseen events, stabilizing farmers’ income to ensure their continuance in farming and much more.  

In order to make farmers aware of crop insurance, the Madhya Pradesh government will campaign in villages. 

Madhya Pradesh Agriculture Minister, Kamal Patel, has appealed to the farmers to get the Rabi season crops insured before December 31, 2021, under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. This is the last date to take advantage of the scheme. After this, the farmers will not be able to take the benefit of insurance.  

 The Agriculture Minister has appealed the farmers to get crop insurance by going to the bank. Crop Insurance will reduce the risk associated with Crop loss. Patel said that pulses and other crops must be insured. 

Government’s Efforts to Raise Awareness about PMFBY: 

Patel said that under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY),  farmers will be made aware through 52 campaigns to get maximum insurance of Rabi crops for the year 2020-21. Various campaigns will be held in more and more villages of the state by December 30 to raise awareness among the farmers regarding benefits of crop insurance. About 5 thousand Kisan Chaupals will be organized during the campaign. 

Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, the first week of Rabi season 2021-22 will be celebrated as Crop Insurance Scheme week to make farmers aware and increase their participation. The scheme was launched on January 13, 2016, to reduce the risk of loss to farmers due to crop damage. 

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar claims that farmers have received a record claim of Rs 537 for every Rs 100 paid as premium. The government claims that till December-2020, farmers paid an insurance premium of Rs 19 thousand crores, in return for which they got a claim of about 90 thousand crore rupees.
