PM Kisan: 6.65 Lakh Farmers Missed Benefits of the Scheme; Know Why?

Latest update on PM Kisan: The Central government had asked all the beneficiaries of PM Kisan to update their e-KYC or else they may not get the benefits of the scheme.

As per media reports, as many as 6.65 lakh farmers in Telangana did not receive the financial assistance under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana due to failure in updating the e-KYC (know your customer).

The reasons for not updating the e-KYC were lack of awareness among the beneficiaries and carelessness of the agriculture department in ensuring that farmers complete their details.

Sources told media that the procedure to update e-KYC rules was simple. Beneficiaries just had to provide their Aadhaar details and mobile phone numbers and link them to complete the eKYC process online.

In Telangana, about 70 lakh farmers get the benefit of Rythu Bandhu scheme, only 32.72 lakh farmers received the 12th instalment of PM Kisan yojana in October.

Total, 39,38,432 farmers have applied for the scheme but around 6.65 lakh farmers could not get Rs 133 crore due to non-updation of e-KYC.

PM Kisan 13th Installment Date

The Central government is most likely to release the next instalment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana by the end of December or in early January. Hence it has asked all the beneficiaries to update their e-KYC by 15 December.

According to official sources, less than 60% of the farmers had completed their e-KYC. As now only 9 days are left, it is feared that lakhs of beneficiaries could lose this benefit again.

About PM Kisan

Under PM Kisan, the eligible farmers are given financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per year in three equal instalments of Rs. 2000 each. The amount is transferred directly in to their registered bank accounts once it is released.
