The state agriculture director in a letter to the convener of the State Level Bankers Conference (SLBC) said that the Central government has ordered that the money sent to the ineligible and income tax payees must be fully recovered and further refunded to PM-Kisan.

The list provided by the state agriculture director mentioned that Rs 18.8 crore has to be recovered from 21,018 income tax payees while Rs 12.24 crore has to be taken back from 9,398 other ineligible people.

PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana has completed 3 years in Kerala and at present, there are 37.2 lakh registered beneficiaries in the state.

The agriculture director said that for the last 3 years, Rs 5,600 crore have been transferred to the registered beneficiaries’ bank accounts. He added that 30,416 ineligible beneficiaries have been recognized after “continuous scrutinizing of the database” by the state as well as Central government.

In a letter in April, the union finance ministry had asked SLBC to abide by the instructions in the standard operating procedure & help in the realization of the money transferred to ineligible beneficiaries.

The agriculture director also said that the government was receiving refunds, but the procedure was slow and hence the Centre asked the banks to directly refund the amount from the accounts of the ineligible people.

Under the PM Kisan, income tax payees, farmers holding constitutional posts, serving or retired officers and employees of state or Central government, and those earning a monthly pension of more than Rs 10,000 cannot take the financial assistance of Rs. 6000.
