PM Kisan Yojana: Rs 2 lakh crores Transferred to Farmers, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually interacted with the beneficiaries of various schemes on Thursday, 8th September 2022 at Olpad in Surat, Gujarat.

While talking to the beneficiaries PM Modi praised the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana – one of its most successful schemes for farmers. Modi also informed that Rs 2 lakh crores have been directly transferred to the accounts of the farmers in the country under the scheme.

Meanwhile, an investigation into the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme showed that as many as 21 lakh farmers who were selected or registered in Uttar Pradesh were ineligible, according to Surya Pratap Shahi, state agriculture minister. He said there are many cases wherein both the husband & wife are getting the benefit of PM Kisan scheme. He added that those found ineligible included many who had filed income tax.

The government has instructed officials to contact these people as early as possible and ask them to return the money.
