PMFBY Latest Update: Farmers can register for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana till July 31

Under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in Haryana, in this Kharif season, Paddy, Millet and Cotton crops can be insured. In addition, wheat, barley, gram, mustard, and sunflower crops in Rabi season. The last date for crop insurance under this scheme is 31 July. It must be noted that this scheme is voluntary for all farmers.  

If the indebted farmers do not want to join this scheme, they can withdraw their name from this scheme by July 24. Withdrawal application can be submitted in banks. 

If the indebted farmers do not withdraw their name from the scheme then the banks will be authorised to insure their crops.  

Agriculture Minister’s Statement 

Agriculture Minister JP Dalal said that Haryana is one of the few states in the country whose claim to premium ratio is more than 100%. Under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana, the Kharif season 2016 to the Kharif season 2020, 67 lakh 82 thousand 971 farmers had insured their crops, out of which 18 lakh 15 thousand 205 farmers were given Rs. 3960.81 crore as claims.  

Minister also informed that project officers and surveyors have been appointed by the government at the district level to run this scheme smoothly. Insurance companies have also appointed their employees at the district and block levels to assist the farmers. Grievance Redressal Committees have been set up at the state and district levels to deal with the grievances of the farmers.
