Profitable Farming: Strawberry Farming can Fetch High Returns, says Horticulture DG

Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, Director General (DG) Horticulture, Kashmir, visited the Tumlihal area of Pulwama yesterday and voiced his hope that the farm will inspire and motivate others to make a living from strawberry production.

Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, Director General (DG) Horticulture, Kashmir, visited the Tumlihal area of Pulwama yesterday to take part in a series of events.

The DG began by interacting with members of the Self Help Group "Seed Solutions" and discussing various topics with the group's founder, Sana Masood.

He also went to the Strawberry Farm, which is spread out over 2 acres and was developed by the said Self Help Group.

Bhat expressed his pleasure at the farm's work and voiced his hope that the farm will inspire and motivate others to make a living from strawberry production.

He also emphasized the importance of women empowerment and self-help groups.

He stated that empowering women is a fundamental right of women, and that the purpose of yesterday's visit was to inspire members of the Group to believe in their own potential and to work with greater excitement and spirit.

Knapsacks, irrigation motors, Poly Green Houses, vermicompost, and other items were also distributed by the DG.

The event drew a considerable number of women farmers.

General Manager DIC Pulwama Dr Zahoor Ahmad, CHO Pulwama, Financial Literacy Officer J&K Bank, Assistant Registrar Cooperative, Representative of NRLM, and other Department of Horticulture field officers attended the event as well.

Later, the DG went on a tour of the district, inspecting several High-Density Apple Orchards and praising the hard work of orchardists and department field staff.
