Punjab Mandi Board Launches 'e-PMB' to Make Paperless Operations

In order to make Rabi Management System 2020-21 paperless operation, the Punjab Mandi Board has introduced, e-PMB, a mobile application and Integrated Management System (IMS) that will provide real time information of procurement to the farmers. While launching this farmer friendly mobile application, Laal Singh, Chairman of Mandi Board said that this endeavor would empower the arthias & general public with the online licensing and availability of actual prices of fruits & vegetables in ‘Apni Mandis’ from different locations within Punjab.

In order to make Rabi Management System 2020-21 paperless operation, the Punjab Mandi Board has introduced, e-PMB, a mobile application and Integrated Management System (IMS) that will provide real time information of procurement to the farmers. While launching this farmer friendly mobile application, Laal Singh, Chairman of Mandi Board said that this endeavor would empower the arthias & general public with the online licensing and availability of actual prices of fruits & vegetables in ‘Apni Mandis’ from different locations within Punjab. This app will positively impact all the stakeholders in providing required information in terms of marketing support. Lauding this unique initiative to bring far more transparency in procurement operations in the mandis.

Viswajeet Khanna, Additional Chief Secretary Development told that the Mandi Board has taken an innovative step of e-Governance via IMS aimed towards paperless operations.  Khanna mentioned that Punjab Mandi Board has already selected District Nodal Officers for the seamless execution of e-PMB to provide different e-services to all stakeholders.

Revealing the salient features of e-PMB, Ravi Bhagat, Secretary of Mandi Board said that the App would enable the customers to compare the rates prevailing in various ‘apni mandis’ all over the state besides providing an opportunity to growers for selling their produce at the real time prices. In addition, this GPS tagged mobile application would mark the attendance of staff of Punjab Mandi Board and confirm their location too.

Regarding e-Kharid, Bhagat said that Punjab Mandi Board plans to capture the farm produce immediately it enters the mandis up to the exit on real time basis. The sale/auction of the produce in the mandi will also be captured electronically. The Arthias will be able to generate J-Forms online & make them available to the farmers electronically.

Also the procurement, payment & lifting could be monitored in real time. This app will assist in checking the danger of fake & bogus billing thereby containing such illegal practices. The process is aimed at changing procurement in the mandis to paperless operations that will virtually end the delay in procurement process & evasion of grains and market fees.
