Rs. 3,795 Crore Relief Package Announced for Rain-hit Farmers of This State
A financial package of Rs. 3,795 crore was announced for farmers whose crops were spoiled due to rainfall during the 36-day period in the months of October & November. The package will cover more than 56 lakh farmers.

"The state government of Gujarat has decided to give a huge package of Rs. 3795 crores to the farmers whose crops were damaged by excess rains. The package will cover almost all the 56.36 lakh growers whose crops suffered damage because of rains after the (south-west) monsoon (retreated)," informed Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, Nitinbhai Patel.
Deputy Chief Minister said that farmers in regions where rains were recorded in the excess of 100 mm between 15 October to 20 November period will be given the compensation at Rs. 6800 /hectare up to 2 hectares.
He said that "In the areas where rain was less than 100 mm, farmers would get compensation of Rs. 4000 /hectare upto 2 hecters".
On the other hand, Vijay Rupani, Gujarat Chief Minister said that the BJP government has declared this 'unprecedentedly huge' package for the affected farmers of the state.
It is important to mention that few days back, the state government of Gujarat had declared an financial support of Rs. 700 crores that was termed as "inadequate" by farmers' bodies.
Patel clarrified that "When the package of Rs. 700-crore was announced, we had told that the survey of the crop damage was in progress and that the assistance will be decided later".
