Rs 4,807 Crore Deposited in Bank Accounts of 7.65 Lakh Farmers: Thackeray

Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray today (3rd March 2020) announced that under the Mahatma Phule farm loan waiver scheme, Rs 4,807 crore has been deposited into the bank accounts of around 7.65 lakh farmers.

Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray today (3rd March 2020) announced that under the Mahatma Phule farm loan waiver scheme, Rs 4,807 crore has been deposited into the bank accounts of around 7.65 lakh farmers.

Talking to media persons at the Vidhan Bhawan, Thackeray said that the state government has already started marking cultivators, who took loans of up to Rs 2 lakh, debt-free.

He said, "Till Tuesday noon, verification of 10 lakh beneficiary accounts has been done with the Aadhaar cards & an amount of Rs 4,807 crore has been deposited into the bank accounts of 7.65 lakh farmers".

The CM said that 35.8 lakh farmer accounts have been uploaded on a special portal made for the implementation of the loan waiver scheme.

Thackeray said, “In the 1st list, 15,358 bank accounts in 68 villages were announced and in the 2nd list 21.81 lakh farm accounts from 15 districts were declared”.

He added that 5 lakh bank accounts will be declared after some time, as the model code of conduct is in force for gram panchayat elections in 6 districts of Amravati, Gadchiroli, Yavatmal, Nanded, Nandurbar & Nashik.

The CM also told that "We will waive off loans of those whose loan accounts are linked with the Aadhaar card”.
