Smart Ration Card: Guidelines & Fees for Making This New Ration Card

Ration card is an official document mainly issued by the state government which provides the facility to the cardholder to get food or other goods in a subsidized price. It is a card provided to Indian households that are eligible to purchase subsidized food grain from the Public Distribution System. The government recently announced that for making new smart ration cards under the public distribution system, the residents of Uttarakhand will have to pay a fee of Rs 17.

It is a card provided to Indian households that are eligible to purchase subsidized food grain from the Public Distribution System. The government recently announced that for making new smart ration cards under the public distribution system, the residents of Uttarakhand will have to pay a fee of Rs 17.

New Guideline for Ration Cards

The Uttarakhand government has also issued a guideline to make smart ration cards. Under this, if the ration card is lost or damaged, then a duplicate card will be charged at Rs 25. Now portability ration cards are being made in the state by the government. For this, the Food and Supplies Department has started the process of making new smart ration cards.

Fees for Making Smart Ration Card

According to the guidelines issued by the state government to all districts, there will be uniformity in ration cards made under Antyodaya, Primary Family and State Food Scheme. For the new ration card and renewal, the consumer will have to pay a fee of Rs 17. Whereas in case of loss of ration card, a fee of Rs 25 will have to be paid for making a duplicate ration card. As per department official, the new smart ration card will be signed by the District Supply Officer. The old ration cardholder will have to deposit at the time of making the new card.

Ten Units in a Card

According to the guidelines issued by the state government, up to 10 units or members of a family can be registered through the new ration card. In such a case, if the number of members in a family is more than 10, then such cardholder will have to make a separate card, says an official.
