Meanwhile, the government has been taking several measures to fulfil all aspects of agriculture including post-harvest management, soil health, cropping system, plant safety, post-harvest storage, treatment facilities for animals and employment to boost India’s agri-scenario. As per the report, NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) is going to give loan up to 20 Lakhs to Agripreneurs and farmers who want to start a profitable Agri-business but facing shortage of money.

What is Agri-Clinic & Agribusiness Center Scheme (AC&ABC)? 

The scheme aims to promote the establishment of Agri-Clinics and Agri-Business Centres (ACABC) all over the country. In order to give a boost to the agriculture sector, the government has launched the Agri Clinic and Agribusiness Center (AC&ABC) Scheme for Agriculture Graduates to Higher Secondary pass (12th pass) students who want to pursue a career in agriculture. As per reports, interested people are trained for 45 days under this scheme. To fulfil this aim, many centres have been established across all the states. As per reports, all these training centres have been linked with the National Agricultural Extension Management Institute (MANAG) Hyderabad, which comes under the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. 

Objectives of AC& ABC Scheme 

  • To supplement efforts of public extension by necessarily providing extension and other services to the farmers on payment basis or free of cost as per the business model of agripreneur, local needs and affordability of target group of farmers

  • To support agricultural development

  • To create gainful self-employment opportunities for unemployed agricultural graduates, agricultural diploma holders, intermediate in agriculture and biological science graduate with Post Graduation in agri-related courses.  

NABARD to Give Loan up to 20 Lakhs under AC& ABC Scheme 

After the training, the applicants will be provided full help to take a loan from NABARD to start a business related to the farming area.  NABARD will allow loan up to 20 Lakhs to the applicants (entrepreneurs) and up to Rs 1 crore to a group of five persons. Moreover, NBARD is offering 36 per cent subsidy to general category applicants and 44 per cent to applicants belonging to scheduled castes, Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) and women.
