State Level Work Plan - 2020 Workshop for KVKs of Haryana and Delhi

The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone - II, Jodhpur organized the “State Level Work Plan - 2020 Workshop for Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Haryana and Delhi States” at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU) in Hisar.

The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone - II, Jodhpur organized the “State Level Work Plan - 2020 Workshop for Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Haryana and Delhi States” at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU) in Hisar.

The Chief Guest Prof. K.P. Singh, Vice-Chancellor, CCSHAU, Hisar spoke about the dependence of around 70 percent of population on agriculture. He stressed on the importance of planning to prepare the strategies for implementation. He stated that agriculture is a success story in India as importing of agricultural technologies is minimal in comparison to other sectors and most of the technologies in agriculture are indigenous. Prof. Singh highlighted the vital role played by the extension system in the country to achieve this goal with limited resources.

He emphasized that with decreasing per capita land holding of 0.14 ha, very small portion of youth below 35 years are interested in opting the agriculture as the profession is not prestigious now-a-days. He stressed that the vision of doubling the farmers’ income by 2022 can be achieved by addressing the issues of small and marginal farmers in a cluster approach.

Dr. S.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Jodhpur urged the KVKs to meet the farmers’ requirements with changing scenario and different types of farming situations. Highlighting about the Government of India’s initiatives through the KVKs, he urged the KVKs for implementing the schemes in an effective manner.

Dr. R.S. Hudda, Director (Extension Education), CCSHAU, Hisar urged the KVKs to plan in proper manner and implement the schemes strictly without any gap for the farmers’ benefits.

The Work Plan for the Year - 2020 of the KVKs was presented and suggestions were provided during the occasion.
