States to Promote Natural Farming to Increase Farmers' Income

Manohar Lal Khattar, chief minister of Haryana, and Bhupendra Patel, the chief minister of Gujarat, said on Friday that their respective states will promote natural farming to increase farmer income.

Gujarat governor Acharya Devvrat hosted a seminar on natural farming at Gurukul in Kurukshetra, and the chief ministers as well as members of their cabinets participated.

Additionally, they emphasized the need to conduct more research along with the advantages of natural farming to the masses.

The chief minister of Gujarat also studied the natural farming concept and the crops and vegetables grown by adopting this method.

Khattar said that natural farming is in demand right now and more farmers are adapting this method.

According to him, the Haryana government is working hard to promote natural farming and offers a grant of Rs.25,000 to people who adopt it and purchase native cows.

Devvrat said that the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides was increasing in agriculture. “We need to adopt natural farming, which will not only reduce the input cost but also ensure water conservation,” he added.

Haryana agriculture minister JP Dalal said the idea exchanged between Haryana and Gujarat during this brainstorming session would be given the shape of a mass campaign.

Haryana power minister Ranjit Singh and Gujarat agriculture minister Raghavji Patel also attended the session.

The ministers and officials accompanying them also visited Jyotisar and Brahma Sarovar.

The concept discussed between Gujarat and Haryana during this brainstorming session, according to Haryana's agriculture minister JP Dalal, would be given the shape of a mass campaign.
