UP Government Determined to Bring Digitalization in Agriculture

With a focus on improving farmer’s income in particular and improving the efficiency of the agriculture sector in general, the UP government is planning to promote digitalization in Agriculture & offer proactive and personalized services to the farmers in the state.

With a focus on improving farmer’s income in particular and improving the efficiency of the agriculture sector in general, the UP government is planning to promote digitalization in Agriculture & offer proactive and personalized services to the farmers in the state. 

A plan has been prepared which will soon be implemented in Mathura, Mainpuri & Hathras districts of the state. The data of all farmers in around 10 villages of the districts will be collected in which details of the land of the farmers will be added. In addition, for smart and well organized agriculture, the map of respective lands will also be digitized. 

Services & Facilities to be made available to Farmers: 

Along with engaging farmers with the government welfare schemes, personalized services to farmers such as soil and plant health advisories, real time weather advisories, irrigation facilities, seeds, fertilizers and pesticide related information, nearby logistic facilities and market access information will also be made available to them. The government is also making efforts for introducing proper marketing channels for farm produce. 

The government has given the responsibility of preparing the database to District magistrates of Mathura, Mainpuri and Hathras districts. As per instructions issued by the government, a nodal officer must be appointed for smooth execution of the same. The work of preparing the database will be completed by coordinating with officials of Government of India & Delhi. 

Agriculture Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Surya Pratap Shahi says: 

The government is constantly working to benefit the farmers by roping in innovative measures. Various initiative are being taken to empower the farmers economically and also to provide them employment opportunities.  

He added, “Through the database of farmers that will be prepared under the scheme of digital agriculture, information about the kind of grants received by the farmers under which schemes will also be made available. The project will carry out various tasks for the betterment of farmers in the state, which will enhance their income by reducing the input costs for farmers and making farming easier.”
