India will dispatch trade delegations to other countries to investigate wheat export opportunities. Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria in North Africa, as well as Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Turkey, and Lebanon, will be covered by these delegations.

In the years 2022-23, India plans to export 10 million tonnes of wheat. According to an official news release issued on Thursday, the Ministry of Commerce has already established a task group on wheat exports with broad representation.

According to a press release, Bangladesh had previously received half of India's total wheat exports, and that the disruption in the global food market caused by the Ukraine war has prompted India to reach out to other potential importing nations.

"We are offering our assistance to all stakeholders in the wheat export value chain in order to increase shipping from the nation," M. Angamuthu, Chairman, Agriculture and Processed Food Products Exports Development Authority (APEDA), stated.

Farmers, merchants, and exporters have been instructed to fulfil all "quality requirements" of importing countries, according to Commerce and Industry authorities, so that India can preserve its global image as a reputable wheat supplier.

Under the overall guidance of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has established a task force on what exports, which includes representatives from various ministries, including commerce, shipping, and railways, as well as exporters. In important wheat-growing states including Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, the Department of Commerce plans to hold export orientation sessions.

A similar discussion was conducted in Karnal, Haryana, to discuss wheat export prospects and difficulties. In 2021-2022, India exported a total of 7 million tonne (MT) of wheat for $2.05 billion.

According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Bangladesh received half of the total wheat shipment in the previous fiscal year. To simplify wheat exports from India, the APEDA has asked exporters to register with Egypt's national procurement agency, the General Authority of Supplies and Commodities.
