According to the government, women are the bedrock of the Indian agriculture industry, and their contributions are critical in making the sector self-sufficient.

Two union ministers of state for agriculture, Parshottam Rupala and Kailash Choudhary, talked about women's contributions in every field, including agriculture, at a virtual event hosted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) on Monday to commemorate International Women's Day.

Rupala celebrated women's contributions in the agriculture and farming fields, while Choudhary praised the central government's numerous schemes aimed at empowering women in all aspects of life.

According to an ICAR statement, Choudhary stressed that "the role of women is pivotal in realising the goal of doubling farmers' income."

ICAR Director General Trilochan Mohapatra said women are the bedrock of Indian agriculture and that their efforts are critical to the agricultural sector's success. He added that the Council is committed to developing women's leadership in the farming and agriculture sectors.
