Yogi Government Purchased Paddy Worth Rs.10000 cr to Benefit 8.4 Lakh Farmers
Despite an increase in Covid-19 instances, the Uttar Pradesh government has purchased paddy worth over Rs 10,000 crore, benefiting over 3.40 lakh farmers in the state who follow Covid safety standards.
On Wednesday, the Uttar Pradesh government announced that it had acquired paddy worth more than Rs 10,000 crore, benefiting more than 8.4 lakh producers in the state. According to Sorabh Babu, commissioner of food and civil supplies, approximately 53.321 lakh metric tonnes of paddy worth over Rs 10,002.21 crore has now been bought from farmers, with compensation paid straight to their bank accounts in 72 hours of the purchase.
In the procurement year 2021-22, many new efforts have been made to provide maximum benefits to farmers and producers.
He stated that paddy procurement from farmers is going well in the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2021-22. In the previous 24 hours, state government agencies and the Food Corporation of India (FCI) have bought more than 81,000 Metric tons of paddy, according to a state government official.
Around 80% of the cash for the total paddy purchased has already been deposited, totaling Rs 7,975.64 crore. Within 72 hours, the balance amount of Rs 2,026.57 crore would be transferred.
According to the spokesperson, the procedure is being closely monitored to ensure that it runs smoothly. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, has issued authorities such as ADMs, SDMs, and tehsildars orders to monitor the purchase and perform on-site inspections of the purchase centers.
In comparison to last year's 4,304 procurement centers in 73 districts, a total of 4,619 procurement centers have been established across the state to promote direct purchases from farmers.
He also emphasized the need for authorities to engage in discussion with farmers and receive feedback on the procurement process. Senior government personnel should conduct thorough supervision of the paddy procurement process.
Arrangements have been taken to guarantee that farmers are not harassed by middlemen, as directed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
