The Yogi government 2.0 plans to install more than 50,000 shallow tube wells for small and marginal farmers in an effort to encourage the growth of the state's agricultural sector through improved facilities. The second Yogi government has decided to install 50,358 shallow tube wells for small-marginal farmers at a cost of more than Rs 46.58 crore.

Private irrigation facilities will also be available through the use of HDPE pipe (High-Density Polyethylene) and pumps, among other things.

During its first term, the Yogi government worked to alleviate farmers' problems. Several irrigation projects that had been stalled for years were completed, ensuring that farmers do not face a water shortage for irrigation.

Moving forward, the government intends to construct shallow tube wells up to 30 metres deep out of PVC pipes 110 mm in diameter.

Farmers of all categories are eligible to participate in the Minor Irrigation Department's deep boring scheme.

During its first term, the Yogi government bore depths ranging from 61 to 90 metres in farmer fields. Farmers have irrigated approximately 12 hectares of fields per bore since it became operational.

In the fiscal year 2020-21, the state installed a total of 11,866 shallow tubewells under the 'Har Khet Ko Pani' Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) and as many as 70,838 under the Mukhyamantri Laghu Sinchayee Yojana.

The UP government is currently planning to expand irrigation facilities for farmers. Its resolution also includes the provision of free electricity to farmers for irrigation purposes. Preparations are being made to provide grants to all small and marginal farmers for the construction of borewells, tube-wells, ponds, and tanks. The government is also distributing solar pumps to farmers.
