Agrinnovate India (AgIn) is a great platform to promote technologies developed by state and central agricultural universities at global level said Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) and Chairman, AgIn while addressing the Sensitization workshop organized by Agrinnovate India Limited (AgIn), a Government of India Enterprise, Department of Agricultural Research & Education (DARE), Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare for State Agricultural, Veterinary and Fisheries Universities (SAU).
Dr. Mohapatra also said this workshop is a great way to promote engagement within State & Central Institutions and will surely help them to promote their technologies and services to global level.
Shri Chhabilendra Roul, Vice Chairman, AgIn, stressed that there was a greater need of a specialized agency that would assist SAUs in safeguarding ‘Intellectual Property Rights’ of a technology along with its promotion on a global level.
Dr. Sanjeev Saxena, Director, AgIn, he also said creation of a central database of technologies in AgIn will not only add pace to the commercialization activities, it will also prevent duplication of technologies.
Dr. Ashok Dalwai, Director, AgIn urged, the SAUs to encourage the new researchers to think about the scalability and commercialization of technology in the initial phases of their research itself as this will help the scientists to assess the viability of the technologies in earlier stage itself. He also said, since most of the farmers in India don’t have access to Information Research & Services, Universities should also try to identify potential technologies for public interest and commercial interest and should promote them accordingly.
The aim of this workshop is to make universities acquaint about the services of AgIn in the field of technology commercialization, Capacity Building programs, Business Incubation and Public Private Partnerships at a global level.
The workshop was attended by the Vice Chancellors/ Director Research/ Deans and senior officials from various SAUs across the country.
