Beekeeping Training: Start Beekeeping Along With Traditional Farming & Earn Huge Profits

Agriculture isn't only about cultivating crops; it's also about the physical toil involved, as well as the vagaries of the monsoon due to which farmers suffer from huge crop losses every year.  Agriculture must include scientific management and successful integration of available technical recommendations to produce a good yield. 

As a farmer it's not enough to just plant a few crops to earn a decent living especially when inflation is touching new heights every day. Farmers need to adopt integrated farming techniques that will help them to make some extra money. One such technique is ‘beekeeping’ along with traditional agriculture. Even the government supports integrated beekeeping through various schemes and subsidies. 

But the farmers lack the knowledge of Commercial Bee Keeping in India and therefore require trainings. Here, find the beekeeping training programmes that the farmers may enrol into and avail benefits: 

Beekeeping Training under Madhushakti Project: 

Seeing the decrease in income of farmers due to decrease in production, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Pune has chosen bee keeping as an option for farmers. In the year 2019, Krishi Vigyan Kendra- Narayangaon, New Delhi and Central Beekeeping Research and Training Institute, Pune launched ‘Madhushakti Project’ for empowerment of rural women through bee keeping. 

This project is being supported financially by B-Positive and PHT Rural Development Foundation. About 295 female participants participated in the training workshop organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Narayangaon in June. After the workshop, 100 of these women were nominated for the Madhushakti project. They were then trained through the classroom and practical sessions at the KVK, Narayangaon for certifying them as certified Beekeepers. 

PAU’s 21 Day Winter School for Beekeeping: 

Apart from this, The 21-day winter school on “Commercial apiculture for livelihood security of farmers and unemployed rural youth,” programme kicked off under the aegis of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) a few days back. This training programme is organized every year around the same time. So the people are requested to keep a check on PAU’s Official website. 

A total of 30 participants from 12 states of India are attending the programme, organised by the department of entomology, PAU. Apiculture scientists from PAU, other parts of the country and USA as well as progressive bee-keepers will deliver lectures on diverse aspects of bee-keeping.
