Prayer plant- Maranta Leuconeura or prayer plant is an indoor plant that can thrive in shallow pots. This plant produces beautiful perennial oval-shaped leaves with a beautiful pattern which is a combination of white, red, and green colours. Other than its beautiful vibrant foliage, the leaves of this plant have the ability to fold like praying hands during the night. This plant can be hung from windows or be kept in a corner of a room that receives indirect yet bright light. It also only needs to be watered when the top layer of the soil is wet.

Snake plant- The snake plant of Dracaena Trifasciata is a plant whose root system isn’t very expansive. They have shallow root systems that grow wide rather than deep. The snake plant is an ideal indoor plant as it requires low indirect sunlight and temperate temperature. This plant doesn’t need to be watered regularly as it prefers its soil to be on the drier side.

African Violet

African violet- The African violet is a flowering plant that is suitable for growing in shallow pots. This plant has large heart-shaped green leaves with dark veins and it produces large flowers that are dark pink with a yellow centre. It is great for decorating tables.

Pinstripe plant- Calathea ornate or pinstripe plant is a tropical plant that can grow in shallow plants. Technically a tropical plant, pinstripe plant can also adjust to most indoor climates as long as humidity is maintained.

Pothos- Epipremnum aureum also known as pothos or money plant is a popular variety of plant that produces beautiful variegated heart-shaped leaves. Pothos are tropical vines that grow out of their pots. They have a shallow root system but require lateral support to grow properly. This plant should not be kept in direct sunlight and should be watered only when the top layer of soil is dry to the touch. However, a high level of humidity should be maintained around it.

Cactus

Cactus plant- Most varieties of cactus plants are considered great first plants because they don’t require a lot of space to grow and aid in air circulation.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera- The aloe vera plant has a shallow root system which makes it a perfect candidate for growing in shallow pots. The leaves of the aloe vera plant can also be used to make hair and skin masks as aloe vera gel has several antibacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits.

Flame Violet

Flame violet- Flame violet or Episcia is a small indoor plant that has a shallow root system. They produce beautiful flowers that are delightful to look at. It is recommended to keep this plant in an area that has a temperate temperature and which receives bright yet indirect light.

String of Pearls

String of pearls- Curio rowleyanus or String of Pearls is a unique indoor plant that produces small pea-sized orbs which grow on vines. These orbs are meant to be the leaves of the plant. It has vigorous growth and can grow at least 10 to 15 inches every year. The best thing about this plant is that you’ll know exactly when to water it. It is a sign for you to water the plant whenever the orbs start to shrivel up.

Basil

Basil- If you are a culinary wizard and use basil extensively, then consider growing this precious herb at home for your convenience. Like most herbs, basil doesn’t have an extensive root system, making it perfect for a shallow pot. This plant thrives in well-draining soil that has good air circulation.
