Animal Insurance Scheme: Get up to 70% Subsidy, Check Eligibility, Claiming Procedure & Other Details
The Madhya Pradesh government is giving up to 70 percent subsidy on livestock insurance to the cattle owners in the state.
Livestock Rearing or Animal Husbandry plays an important role in the Indian economy. It is one of the main occupations of rural India. The government understands the vitality of this sector and therefore promotes it through various schemes and subsidies. At the same time, farmers are provided Livestock Insurance to cope with the loss occurred incase of death of the Animals.
70% Subsidy for Animals Insurance:
The Madhya Pradesh government is giving up to 70 percent subsidy on livestock insurance to the cattle owners in the state. Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Prem Singh Patel said that the objective of the scheme is to provide insurance facilities to the cattle owners for their animals and compensate them in case of loss due to the death of the animal. This scheme is applicable in all the districts of the state.
Subsidy under Animal Insurance Scheme
Under the Livestock Insurance Scheme, premium insurance is provided on a 50 percent subsidy to the beneficiaries above the poverty line. In this, 25-25 percent is included in the central share and the state share. At the same time, premium insurance is provided on 70 percent subsidy to the beneficiaries of Scheduled Castes & Tribes. It includes 40 percent central share and 30 percent state share.
Animals included under The Animal Insurance Scheme
Under the scheme, all types of animals – milch, indigenous/hybrid cow-buffalo and other animals like horse, donkey, sheep, goat, pig, rabbit, male cow-buffalo lineage etc. are insured. Maximum 5 animals of a beneficiary are insured under this scheme.
Animal Insurance Subsidy: Eligibility

Only the native cattle breeders of the state of Madhya Pradesh can take advantage of this livestock insurance scheme.

APL and BPL category cattle breeders are required to have a card belonging to the category.

Under the scheme, a cattle breeder can take only 5 insurances in which 10 animals will be covered in every 1 insurance.

Under this scheme, animal owners can insure up to 50 animals in total.

Livestock owners can insure all other types of animals along with milch animals in this insurance scheme.

Animal Insurance Scheme Madhya Pradesh: How to Claim?
The farmer have to inform the state department within 24 hours of the death of the animal to get the benefit of the livestock insurance scheme. After this, the cause of death of the animal will be investigated by the officials of the department. Insurance will have to be submitted to the department within 1 month after the investigation of the cause of death is successful. The insurance claim amount will have to be provided after the report is sent to the department within 15 days.
