Dairy Farming: GADVASU Launches Mobile App & Organizes Monthly Seminar For Dairy Farmers

A monthly seminar for Dairy Farmers was held at Silver Jubilee Auditorium of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana wherein the office bearers and farmers associated with Progressive Livestock Farmers Association (PLFA) participated.

Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor was Chief Guest of the function. Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, Director of Extension Education and Jaswinder Singh Dhillon, President, PLFA also graced the occasion.  

Vice-Chancellor in his key address highlighted the importance of milk marketing for profitable dairy  enterprise. He further highlighted the need and scope for integrated farming systems for augmenting farmers' income. He remarked that for gaining better output, there is a need to prevent diseases entering into the farm by means of proper vaccination.  

GADVASU Services: Mobile app for Dairy Farmers 

A Mobile App named “GADVASU Services” was released by the chief guest. The ‘App’ has been developed by Dr. Amandeep Singh, Assistant Professor, and Dr. Parkash Singh Brar.

This App contains information regarding all the services being provided by the University to various stakeholders involved in the livestock sector. In the seminar, the chief guest highlighted the role of modern technologies for reaching to livestock farmers. 

Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, HoD, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education talked about abortions in dairy animals while Dr. Charanjit Singh Randhawa, HoD, Department of Veterinary Medicine discussed various strategies to counter menace of communicable diseases among dairy animals. ‘Bayer Crop Sciences’, a private firm, sponsored this seminar and their representatives discoursed about their maize varieties meant for silage making.  

Jaswinder Singh Dhillon, President of PLFA thanked the University for organizing the seminar and stated that their association with university has always brought fruitful results for the betterment of livestock farmers.
