Fish Farming to get boost from Govt

To develop fisheries and the blue economy (fish), as well as to generate additional job opportunities, the state government will provide over 2,000 lakh fish seeds to individuals involved in fish farming across Uttar Pradesh over the next 100 days.

The Yogi government is encouraging small and micro-business units in the state to invest in fish farming to generate a higher profit with less capital. According to fisheries minister Sanjay Nishad, the fishermen's community would benefit from eight welfare initiatives, including the Kisan credit card, which will enhance their financial and social status.

Quality fish seeds will be distributed to fish farmers from departmental and private fish farms/hatcheries to improve productivity.

The government will also engage in river ranching, releasing around 5 lakh fish fingerlings of various species into the river during the following 100 days.

In the next 100 days, an additional 750 hectares of water will be covered for fishing. Fish seeds will be stored in gram sabha-allotted ponds as well as ponds built in the private sector last year.

Furthermore, the government will examine 4,000 samples of water and soil from various ponds at no cost.

In India, the Blue Revolution, also known as the Neel or Nili Kranti Mission, was initiated during the 7th Five-Year. The primary goal is to produce, maintain, and promote fisheries to double farmers' revenue. Recently, the aquaculture business has been developing at a rate of 9 percent each year on average, with India being one of the fastest-growing countries.

The Neel Kranti Mission marked the beginning of India's Blue Revolution, intending to achieve economic success while keeping sustainability, bio-security, and environmental issues in mind.
