Kisan Credit Card Update: Around 15 Lakh KCC Sanctioned to Eligible Dairy Farmers, says Purushottam Rupala

Purushottam Rupala said that the government had also organized a special drive to provide KCC to all dairy farmers in the country.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Purushottam Rupala, Minister of fisheries, animal husbandry and dairying said that around 15 lakh Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) have been sanctioned to the eligible farmers associated or connected with milk cooperatives and milk producer companies in India till 25th march 2022. Kisan Credit Cards will provide finance facilities amounting to Rs. 10,974 crores.

The minister said that the government had also organized a special drive to provide KCC to all dairy farmers in the country. Rupala further told the house that the average milk procurement price paid to farmers for milk has been increased from Rs. 37.38 per kg in February 2021 to Rs. 39.93 per kg in February 2022 indicating a stable market.

According to the information available from the Cooperative Dairy Sector, the rate of SMP was increased from Rs. 274.11 / kg in February 2021 to Rs. 285.44 / kg in February 2022 thus indicating an increase in demand in the past one year.

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) said that the export of SMP has increased significantly from 935.41 MT during 2019-20 to 13,457.11 MT in 2020-21 & further to 36,668.19 MT during 2021-22 (April -2021 - January-2022).
