Training Held on Optimal Production and Disease Management of Dairy Animals

Scientists at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized a training programme on the ‘Optimal Production and Disease Management of Dairy Animals’ under RKVY-11 scheme for farmers with the motive to create awareness among the farmers at Dhaipai village (Ludhiana).

Scientists at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized a training programme on the ‘Optimal Production and Disease Management of Dairy Animals’ under RKVY-11 scheme for SC farmers with the motive to create awareness among the farmers at Dhaipai village (Ludhiana). Scientific lectures about the common management practices, shelter management, importance of record keeping, feed management, reproductive problems and other disease management in dairy animals were delivered in this training programme. The farmers were made aware about timely deworming, vaccination of animals and clean milk production. They were also motivated to become entrepreneur in dairy sector through value addition of milk into milk products. Total 40 farmers including 8 women attended the field training programme.

Along with the technical lectures, hands on training for assessment of healthy animals, basic physiological parameters of animals and management tips were provided.  The farmers were provided with training certificate, literature and monthly magazine Vigyanak Pashu Palan. The training programme was coordinated by Dr. Khushpreet Singh along with three scientists from the department of Veterinary Animal Husbandry and Extension Education.

Dr. H K Verma, Director Extension Education appreciated the efforts of Department of Veterinary Animal Husbandry and Extension Education in providing informative lectures and demonstrations to the farmers. Farmers valued the guidance and various inputs provided by the University for helping improve the Livestock productivity. Dr. Verma informed that GADVASU improves capacity building of farmers every year by various vocational training programmes for livestock, poultry and fisheries and many trainees start their livestock based entrepreneurs. University is always ready to lend a hand to the livestock farmers and entrepreneurs by resolving their problems and informative to farmer friendly govt. policies and loan schemes. It plays important role in improving the economic condition and livelihood security to farmer by providing fundamental information through various training programs, radio /TV talks, literature and monthly magazine Vigyanak Pashu Palan.
