Training on Latest Advances in Livestock, Poultry and Fisheries

Directorate of Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, organized a one day Workshop-cum-Training Program on “Latest Advances in Livestock, Poultry and Fisheries” for the scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), Regional Research and Training centers (RRTCs) as well as University those who are regularly engaged in various extension activities. The workshop was attended by 31 scientists from KVKs, RRTCs and from University. Dr. S K Kansal, Course Coordinator welcomed all the participants.

Directorate of Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, organized a one day Workshop-cum-Training Program on “Latest Advances in Livestock, Poultry and Fisheries” for the scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), Regional Research and Training centers (RRTCs) as well as University those who are regularly engaged in various extension activities. The workshop was attended by 31 scientists from KVKs, RRTCs and from University. Dr. S K Kansal, Course Coordinator welcomed all the participants.

On this occasion Dr. H K Verma, Director Extension Education-cum-Course Director presided over function and interacted with the scientists and appraised the work done by all the KVKs in the welfare of livestock farming community of Punjab. He said that livestock, poultry and fish farming is an important aspect for the farmers for the income generation as well as livelihood security and University is continuously making efforts for farmers, farm women and rural youth to skill them in different areas of Dairy, Piggery, Goatry, Poultry, Fisheries and Value addition so that they can start their own venture and can gain maximum return from their livestock based enterprises. Dr. Verma said that Livestock, Poultry, & Fisheries related technical backstopping for the KVK Scientists is the need of the hour & must be braced every six months to one year. 

He stressed upon the extension approaches and services provided by the University and highlighted the achievements, technologies, ICT tools released by GADVASU for enhancement the farmer’s income. He also highlighted the scope of social media in transferring the need based technologies and extension services to the farming community. A compendium of lectures prepared by the Directorate for the KVK Scientists was also released by the dignitaries of GADVASU.

During the workshop experts from GADVASU delivered their presentations on important topics viz; Nutritional interventions, Pig farming, Goat farming, Backyard poultry and scope of Fish farming in Punjab. The participants interacted on these topics and cleared their doubts. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Jaswinder Singh and Dr. Y S Jadoun and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Kulvinder Singh.

Dr. A S Nanda, Vice Chancellor of the University appreciated the efforts of the Directorate and team members for successful organization of the workshop.
