Hindi is one of the major languages ​​of India. Hindi works to connect Indians living in India and other countries of the world with each other. Although every year 10 January is celebrated as World Hindi Day, in India, a special day is fixed for Hindi Diwas.

When Hindi Diwas is celebrated?

World Hindi Day is celebrated on 10 January, which is a day on a global scale. World Hindi Day is celebrated for the promotion of Hindi in other countries including India, while India celebrates Hindi Day on 14 September.

When did the celebration of Hindi Divas begin?

The celebration of Hindi Day in India started after the independence of the country. On 14 September 1946, the Constituent Assembly accepted Hindi written in Devanagari script as the official language of India.

Then the government of India's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru decided to celebrate 14 September as Hindi Diwas. Although officially the first Hindi Day was celebrated on 14 September 1953.

Why Hindi Divas is celebrated?

One of the reasons to celebrate this day is to prevent the growing trend of English language in the country and the negligence of Hindi. Hindi was proposed as the nation's official language by Mahatma Gandhi. Although Hindi is not the national language of India it is considered the official language of India. To promote Hindi, Hindi is used in place of English in all government offices.

How Hindi Divas is celebrated?

On Hindi Diwas every year, many types of functions and seminars are organized to encourage people towards Hindi. Competitive programs are organized in schools. Apart from this, people associated with Hindi are rewarded. Hindi Awards Rashtrabhasha, Kirti Puraskar and Rashtrabhasha Gaurav Puraskar are distributed.
