National Gopal Ratna Award 2023 To Be Conferred On National Milk Day

The National Award portal opened nominations on August 15, 2023, with a submission deadline of September 15, 2023. The awards are divided into three categories: Certificate of Merit, Memento, and Cash Prize. They aim to recognize and motivate milk-producing farmers, dairy cooperative societies/FPOs, and Artificial Insemination Technicians.

The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying's Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying is extending an invitation for online nominations for the National Gopal Ratna Award in 2023. Nominations can be submitted through the National Award portal, and the deadline for submission is September 15, 2023.

This department, operating under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, is dedicated to fostering the growth of the Animal Husbandry and Dairy sector to provide sustainable livelihoods for farmers. India's native bovine breeds are sturdy and possess the genetic potential to play a vital role in the national economy. To achieve this goal, the "Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM)" was initiated in December 2014 as the first-ever effort in the country to scientifically conserve and develop indigenous bovine breeds.

As part of the RGM, and with the aim of motivating milk-producing farmers, dairy cooperative societies/FPOs, and Artificial Insemination Technicians (AITs), the Department continues to present the National Gopal Ratna Award in 2023 in various categories.

  • Best Dairy farmer rearing of the registered indigenous cattle/ buffalo breeds (list of registered breeds Annexed).

  • Best Dairy Cooperative Society (DCS)/ Milk Producer Company (MPC)/ Dairy Farmer Producer Organization (FPO).

  • Best Artificial Insemination Technician (AIT).

The National Gopal Ratna Award 2023 consists of a Certificate of merit, a memento and a cash prize in the first two categories i.e., Best Dairy Farmer and Best DCS /FPO/MPCs as under:

  • 5,00,000/-(Rupee five lakh only) for 1st rank

  • 3,00,000/- (Rupee three lakh only) for 2nd rank

  • 2,00,000/- (Rupee two lakh only) for 3rd rank

In the case of the best Artificial Insemination Technician (AIT) category, for all the three ranks the award will consist of a Certificate of merit and a memento only.

The awards are to be conferred on the occasion of National Milk Day (26th Nov 2023). For more details about eligibility criteria and the online process of nomination, the website awards.gov.in or dahd.nic.in may be visited.
