The schemes introduced by the government help farmers in planning as well as organizing their farming activities judiciously.

PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is an initiative of the Government wherein farmers get Rs. 6,000 per year as minimum income support. PM-Kisan scheme has become operational since December 2018. Under this scheme, beneficiaries get financial benefit in three installments of Rs. 2000 each. Till so far, the government has released 12 installments under the scheme and the last one was transferred on 17 October 022.

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan yojana

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan yojana, a pension scheme for the small & marginal farmers of India in September 2019. Under PM Maandhan yojana,  farmers in India will get a minimum pension of Rs 3000 / month on attaining the age of 60. Those who fall in the age group of 18 to 40 years can apply for the scheme.

For this, the farmers will be required to make a contribution of Rs 55. to Rs. 200 per month, depending on their age of entry, in the Pension Fund till they reach the retirement date i.e., 60 years. The Centre will make an equal contribution of the same amount in the pension fund for the beneficiaries.

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) was launched in 2016 with an objective to support production in agriculture by providing affordable crop insurance to guarantee comprehensive risk cover for farmers’ crops against all non-preventable natural disasters. PMFBY covers all Food, Oilseeds crops & Horticultural Crops for which past yield data is available.

Stakeholders of PMFBY - Central Government, State Governments, CSCs, Banks, Insurance Companies, and Farmers.

Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY)

Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana was launched on 1 July 2015 with the objective ‘Har Khet Ko Paani’ to provide end-to end solutions in irrigation supply chain, viz. water sources, distribution network & farm level applications. PMKSY scheme focuses on creating sources for assured irrigation, also creating protective irrigation by harnessing rain water at micro level through ‘Jal Sanchay’ & ‘Jal Sinchan’. 

PMKSY has been framed amalgamating ongoing schemes namely - Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) of the Ministry of Water Resources, On Farm Water Management (OFWM) of Department of Agriculture and Cooperation (DAC), and River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation (MoWR,RD&GR), Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) of the Department of Land Resources (DoLR).

PMKSY has been approved for implementation across India with an outlay of Rs. 50,000 crore in 5 years.

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyaan

The scheme, which is popularly known as PM Kusum yojana aims to add solar and other renewable capacity of 25,750 MW by the end of 2022 with total central financial assistance of Rs. 34,422 Crore including service charges to the implementing agencies.

The scheme has three main components:

• Component A - 10,000 Mega Watt of Decentralized Ground Mounted Grid Connected Renewable Power Plants of individual plant size up to 2 Mega Watt.

• Component B - Installation of 17.50 lakh standalone Solar Powered Agri Pumps of individual pump capacity up to 7.5 HP.

• Component C - Solarisation of 10 Lakh Grid-connected Agri Pumps of individual pump capacity up to 7.5 HP

PMFME Scheme

PM Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, an initiative under the Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan was launched by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) with an expenditure of 10,000 cr. over a period of five years – starting from 2020-21 to 2024-25.

The scheme aims to increase the existing individual micro-enterprises in the unorganized segment of the food processing industry & formalize 2 lakh micro food processing enterprises with special focus on supporting groups like Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs) engaged in Agri-food processing sector, inter-alia, by providing.

• Seed capital at Rs. 40,000 per SHG member for working capital as well as purchase of small tools.

• Assistance to food processing enterprises via credit-linked capital subsidy at 35 percent of the eligible project cost with a maximum limit of Rs. 10 lakh / unit.

• Credit linked grant of 35 percent for capital investment to SHGs/ FPOs/ producer cooperatives.

• Support for marketing and branding to micro units.

• Training & capacity building.
