Farmers in Rajasthan is forced to sell pulses at lower prices in the domestic market as the government is yet to start to purchase their produce at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Urad is sold at Rs 3500 to 4400 per quintal, while the MSP is Rs 5400 which includes Rs 200 bonus per quintal. The market price of Moong is Rs 3500 to 4000 per quintal against the MSP of Rs 5575.
Urad is grown more in the kharif season than Moong. Urad was sown in around 30.320 million hectares, and Moong in 35000 hectares. The traders and farmers are expecting for the state government’s immediate intervention because when the harvest arrival reach its peak a large number of farmers will face losses.
