The wholesale prices of sugar and jaggery plummeted across the benchmark markets, according to the data from the Agmarknet portal run by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

In the National Capital of Delhi, the month-on-month wholesale prices of sugar fell by Rs 210 per quintal to Rs 4,131 in February, followed by a fall of Rs 152 per quintal to Rs 3,892 in West Bengal. Other states that saw a fall were Maharashtra with Rs 40 per quintal to Rs 3,960, and Uttar Pradesh with Rs 16 per quintal to Rs 4,020.

Jaggery’s month-on-month wholesale prices dropped in several states, such as Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh. In Tamil Nadu, the prices of the sweet byproduct of sugarcane fell sharply by Rs 686 per quintal to Rs 3,987, followed by a fall of Rs 153 per quintal to Rs 3,525 in Andhra Pradesh. The wholesale prices fell marginally in Uttar Pradesh by Rs 18 per quintal to Rs 3,500.

Similarly, in Rajasthan, the month-on-month wholesale prices of sugar increased by Rs 49 per quintal to Rs 4,150 in February.
