Tobacco production may decline in AP

The delay in monsoon and drought conditions in Nellore and Prakasam districts have affected Virginia tobacco plantation in Andhra Pradesh and there may not be any surplus production this year. Tobacco Board authorities has fixed a crop size of 130 million kg for this year. Planting is delayed in light soils of Nellore due to rainfed conditions and this will affect the quality and productivity of the crop.
